The Associate Director of Talent plays a key role in managing Start Proud’s volunteer recruitment and engagement strategies, ensuring that the organization attracts, retains, and supports top talent to drive its initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Internal Operations within the Internal Operations group, overseen by the EVP of Internal Operations, this individual is responsible for overseeing all aspects of volunteer management, from recruitment to onboarding, and ensuring a positive volunteer experience.

About the Role:
The Associate Director of Talent plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing Start Proud’s volunteer recruitment and engagement strategies. In this role, you will be responsible for attracting and retaining a dedicated team of volunteers, ensuring they are well-supported throughout their journey with Start Proud. Reporting to the Director of Internal, you will collaborate with various departments to ensure that volunteer needs are met across the organization.
You will have the opportunity to shape the volunteer experience, working closely with teams to provide support in volunteer onboarding, training, and engagement. Your efforts will contribute to the successful execution of Start Proud’s programs and initiatives, helping the organization fulfill its mission of empowering the LGBTQ+ community through leadership, mentorship, and inclusion.
In this role you will:
- Lead Volunteer Recruitment Efforts: Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract a diverse and talented group of volunteers who are passionate about Start Proud’s mission.
- Oversee Volunteer Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the volunteer program, ensuring a smooth onboarding process, clear communication, and positive engagement with all volunteers.
- Collaborate with Functional Leads: Work with other departments, including Marketing, Logistics, Corporate Relations, and Advocacy, to understand their volunteer needs and ensure that they are adequately staffed with skilled volunteers.
- Foster Volunteer Engagement: Create and implement strategies to engage volunteers, providing ongoing support, recognition, and development opportunities to ensure a rewarding volunteer experience.
- Monitor and Report on Volunteer Metrics: Track volunteer recruitment, retention, and engagement metrics, providing regular updates to the Director of Internal and EVP of Internal Operations on the effectiveness of volunteer management strategies.
What you will be doing:
- Volunteer Management Experience: Previous experience managing volunteer programs, recruitment, or talent management, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Leadership and Team Collaboration: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to meet organizational goals.
- Communication and Relationship-Building: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage volunteers, foster a positive team culture, and build relationships with stakeholders.
- Organizational and Strategic Thinking: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to develop and implement long-term volunteer management strategies that align with Start Proud’s mission and objectives.
- Passion for the Mission: Commitment to advancing the goals of Start Proud and supporting the LGBTQ+ community through meaningful volunteer opportunities.

Commitment
- ~10 hours per month
