We facilitate the professional development of LGBTQ+ students as they transition from school to career in order to build a national network within the community. Our vision is to empower members of the LGBTQ+ community to be Canada’s leaders of tomorrow, where all institutions embrace inclusiveness within the workplace and diversity within the workforce.
The Director of Special Projects is a volunteer role responsible for supporting Start Proud's key initiatives in grant writing, donor giving and appreciation, and event planning and management. This role is crucial in ensuring the success of our fundraising efforts and maintaining strong relationships with our donors and stakeholders.
- Grant Writing: Assist in researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for Start Proud's programs and initiatives.
- Donor Giving and Appreciation: Develop and implement strategies to engage and appreciate donors, ensuring they feel valued and recognized for their contributions.
- Event Planning and Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute events for key donors and stakeholders, including fundraising events, appreciation events, and other special projects as required.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the President, Chair of the Board, and other team members to align efforts and achieve organizational goals.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to the Executive Vice President, Internal Operations on the progress of special projects and initiatives.
- Strong writing and communication skills, with experience in grant writing preferred.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of volunteers and staff.
- Passion for Start Proud's mission and commitment to supporting the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
- Previous experience in fundraising, event planning, or nonprofit work is required.
- 10 hours per month
- Mandatory attendance at team team meetings
