About the Role:
The Director of Logistics reports directly to the EVP of Initiatives and plays a key role in managing the logistics function across Start Proud’s initiatives. In this position, you will oversee a focused logistics team that provides critical support to various initiatives on a rotating basis. These initiatives include high-profile events such as Out On Bay Street (OOBS), Leaders to be Proud Of, the Mentorship Program, Workshops, and Industry Nights.
Your team will be assigned to different initiatives as needed, ensuring that each program receives the logistical support required for seamless execution. As Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the logistics team is well-prepared, equipped, and aligned with the objectives of each initiative while maintaining smooth coordination between the logistics team and other initiative leads.
In this role you will:
- Provide Logistical Support for Events: Collaborate with initiatives teams to ensure all logistical needs, such as venue setup, transportation, and resource allocation, are met for each event. Ensure all operations run smoothly before, during, and after the event.
- Coordinate Vendor and Venue Logistics: Liaise with vendors, venues, and service providers to ensure all logistical requirements are fulfilled. This includes managing contracts, timelines, and communication with external partners.
- Oversee Resource Allocation: Manage the distribution and use of event resources, including equipment, supplies, and materials. Ensure that all resources are available and properly allocated to support event activities.
- Monitor Event Timelines and Schedules: Work with the initiatives teams to create and maintain event schedules, ensuring that all logistical elements align with the event timeline. Anticipate and address any potential timing conflicts or delays.
- Support Budget and Resource Tracking: Assist in managing event budgets by tracking logistics-related expenses. Ensure that resources are used effectively and stay within the allocated budget.
- Manage On-Site Logistics During Events: Oversee on-site logistics during events, including setup, coordination of volunteers, and troubleshooting any logistical issues that arise in real-time.
- Ensure Health, Safety, and Compliance: Ensure that all events comply with health, safety, and legal guidelines, coordinating any necessary permits or documentation.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Event Logistics Experience: Experience providing logistical support for events, including vendor coordination, scheduling, and resource management.
- Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and priorities, ensuring all logistical components are efficiently coordinated.
- Vendor and Resource Management: Experience working with vendors and managing resources to support large and small events effectively.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to quickly address and resolve logistical challenges during event planning and execution.
- Team Collaboration: Strong ability to collaborate with various teams, ensuring that logistical elements support the overall event objectives.
Commitment
- ~5-15 hours per month
- Mandatory attendance at team team meetings
