Start Proud aims to connect LGBTQ+ students with employers, while promoting the development of LGBTQ+ professionals, and celebrating the achievements and service of those in the community.

About the Role:

The Director of Marketing reports directly to the Vice President of Initiatives and leads the marketing function across all of Start Proud’s initiatives. In this role, you will oversee a dedicated marketing team responsible for supporting key initiatives such as Out On Bay Street (OOBS), Leaders to be Proud Of, the Mentorship Program, Workshops, and Industry Nights.

Your team will be tasked with developing and executing marketing strategies for each initiative, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment across all platforms. As Director, you will ensure that the marketing team is organized and fully equipped to handle each program’s promotional needs, working closely with other initiative leads to ensure marketing efforts align with event goals and organizational objectives.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and Lead Marketing Strategy: Craft and implement an overarching marketing strategy that aligns with Start Proud’s mission and goals. This includes overseeing all digital marketing efforts, social media campaigns, email marketing, and branding initiatives.
  • Manage the Marketing Team: Lead, mentor, and collaborate with a team of marketing volunteers and professionals, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. You will be responsible for ensuring that tasks are delegated appropriately, and deadlines are met.
  • Oversee Content Creation and Branding: Collaborate with content creators and graphic designers to develop compelling marketing materials that uphold the Start Proud brand. You will ensure consistency in messaging and visuals across all platforms.
  • Drive Digital Marketing and SEO Efforts: Oversee the organization’s online presence, including social media, website optimization, and SEO strategies. You will work to enhance visibility and engagement with key target audiences.
  • Monitor Marketing Campaigns: Utilize analytics tools to track and evaluate the success of marketing campaigns. Adjust strategies based on data insights to ensure high levels of audience engagement and conversion.
  • Ensure Compliance and Brand Integrity: Ensure that all marketing activities comply with relevant legal guidelines, including data privacy regulations, and maintain the integrity of Start Proud's brand across all touchpoints.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven Marketing Experience: Demonstrable experience in developing and executing marketing strategies. A background in managing cross-channel campaigns and engaging diverse audiences is essential.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience managing a team and coordinating efforts across multiple projects while meeting deadlines and objectives.
  • Technical Marketing Knowledge: Strong understanding of digital marketing, including SEO, analytics, email marketing, and social media strategies. Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, WordPress, and social media platforms is crucial.
  • Creative and Analytical Skills: Ability to think creatively to develop innovative marketing solutions while also analyzing campaign performance to inform decision-making.
  • Brand Management Experience: Familiarity with maintaining and enhancing brand integrity, ensuring consistent messaging, and overseeing design principles.

Commitment

  • ~5-15 hours per month
  • Mandatory attendance at team team meetings
