Regional Initiatives Co-Lead (Ontario, Montreal, and Vancouver)

The Regional Initiatives Co-Leads are responsible for overseeing regional programs and initiatives, ensuring that Start Proud’s mission is successfully executed within their respective region. Reporting to the EVP of External Initiatives, this role involves supporting and coordinating key regional initiatives such as Learning & Development, Advocacy, Corporate Relations, Campus Engagement, and Industry Nights. The Ontario Co-Lead will also help oversee Start Proud’s staple events, Out On Bay Street (OOBS) and Leaders to be Proud Of (L2BPO).

What Is Start Proud

About the Role:

As a Regional Initiatives Co-Lead, you will work closely with functional teams to ensure smooth execution of programs within your region. You will be responsible for managing regional initiatives and volunteers, aligning regional activities with Start Proud’s national strategy, and ensuring impactful engagement with the LGBTQ+ community. The Ontario Co-Lead will also play a critical role in supporting the execution of OOBS and L2BPO, two of Start Proud’s most important events.

In this role you will:

  • Lead Regional Initiatives: Manage the planning and execution of regional programs such as Learning & Development, Advocacy, Corporate Relations, Campus Engagement, and Industry Nights.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Work with teams in various functions to ensure that regional initiatives align with Start Proud’s broader organizational goals and meet regional needs.
  • Oversee Volunteer Teams: Guide and manage regional volunteer teams, providing direction and support to ensure smooth execution of initiatives and events.
  • Drive Regional Engagement: Foster community engagement through events and programs that empower the LGBTQ+ community by promoting leadership, mentorship, and inclusion.
  • Support Staple Events (Ontario Co-Lead): The Ontario Co-Lead will also assist in the planning and execution of OOBS and L2BPO, Start Proud’s staple events, collaborating with event teams to ensure their success.

What you will be doing:

  • Leadership and Management: Proven experience in leading or co-leading teams and managing cross-functional collaboration in a regional setting.
  • Event and Program Execution: Demonstrated experience in organizing and executing events or programs, with a focus on logistics, engagement, and delivering successful outcomes.
  • Strategic and Regional Alignment: Ability to align national strategies with regional needs and ensure impactful execution of programs at both levels.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage volunteers, stakeholders, and community partners.
  • Commitment to Start Proud’s Mission: Passionate about advancing LGBTQ+ inclusion and leadership, with a commitment to Start Proud’s mission and values.

Commitment

  • ~10 hours per month
  • Mandatory attendance at team team meetings
